IPP stands for Imprisonment for Public Protection. Although IPP sentences were abolished for new cases in 2012, many people are still living with the consequences of them today. Some remain in prison years beyond their original tariff, while others live under licence in the community with the fear of recall hanging over them.
This issue affects people in prison, people released on licence, families, partners, children and communities. Kulturalism® believes this is a serious justice and human rights issue that needs clear public attention, parliamentary scrutiny and practical reform.
