Our Role as a Public-Interest Watchdog

We are an independent community safety and public-interest watchdog. We monitor and challenge crime prevention, safeguarding, and justice responses to promote fairness, effectiveness, and accountability. Our authority comes from rigorous research, a strong evidence base, and a clear commitment to the public interest — not from statutory powers, regulatory status, or legal enforcement authority.

Accountability in Action

We examine and challenge institutional responses where public protection or justice outcomes raise concern. Through Freedom of Information investigations, policy submissions, and public reports, we identify gaps between law and practice and support reforms that prioritise safety, dignity, and rehabilitation alongside accountability.

This section brings together our public-interest work on youth justice, women’s rights, and community safety — including correspondence with government, analysis of Section 45 Modern Slavery Act application, and national safeguarding reviews.
