Safeguarding
Policy

Kulturalism® CIC does not operate as a statutory safeguarding authority and does not hold formal safeguarding case files. Where safeguarding concerns arise, these are referred directly to the appropriate statutory agencies, who retain responsibility for any formal records and investigations.

Any safeguarding-related information received by Kulturalism® CIC is treated as strictly confidential and is only shared with statutory safeguarding agencies on a strict need-to-know basis.

We may share information without consent where we believe an adult is at risk of harm, abuse, or exploitation, in accordance with safeguarding legislation and data protection law.

Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

At Kulturalism CIC, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. Many of the people we support — including those affected by crime, imprisonment, abuse, and social disadvantage — may be especially vulnerable. We take our duty of care seriously and ensure that all adults we engage with are treated with dignity, respect, and are safeguarded from harm.

Our Commitment

  • We follow the principles of the Care Act 2014 and national safeguarding standards.

  • We recognise that adults may be vulnerable due to disability, health, imprisonment, abuse, substance misuse, alcohol dependency, or mental illness.

  • We acknowledge that dependency on drugs and alcohol can increase exposure to domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, rape, and coercion, and we are committed to supporting and protecting those at risk.

  • We also recognise the impact of anti-social behaviour and community intimidation on vulnerable adults and act quickly when concerns arise.

How We Safeguard

  • Where there is reasonable cause to suspect significant harm, Kulturalism CIC will escalate concerns immediately in line with statutory safeguarding thresholds.

  • A Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is in place to oversee all concerns and ensure appropriate action is taken.

  • All concerns are treated seriously and, where necessary, shared with the police, local authorities.

Information Handling & Lawful Sharing

  • Any safeguarding-related information received by Kulturalism® CIC is treated as strictly confidential and is only shared with statutory safeguarding agencies on a strict need-to-know basis.

  • We may share information without consent where we believe an adult is at risk of harm, abuse, or exploitation, in accordance with safeguarding legislation and data protection law.

  • Safeguarding training will be introduced for all staff and volunteers as the organisation expands, ensuring consistent awareness and response.
