Legal & Public Interest Disclaimer
Updated: April 2026
Kulturalism publishes information, research and campaigns across community safety, women's safety, crime prevention, youth and criminal justice. Everything we publish is written to help people understand these issues and stay safer. None of it is advice on your own situation.
1. Our position
Kulturalism® CIC operates as an independent public-interest community safety, safeguarding and justice watchdog. All information published on this website is provided for education, research, safeguarding awareness and systemic accountability purposes only.
Content published by Kulturalism® CIC is prepared in good faith, on the basis of evidence available at the time of publication, and in the public interest. Where reference is made to public bodies, statutory processes or institutional systems, such references relate to governance, safeguarding and regulatory performance only, and do not allege personal criminal liability against any individual unless lawfully established.
All publications rely on the protections afforded under the Defamation Act 2013, including the defence of publication on a matter of public interest.
2. Information, not legal advice
Please read this section carefully.
Everything we publish — guides, handbooks, factsheets, research, articles and campaign material — is provided for general information and public education only.
Not professional legal advice. Our content does not constitute legal advice and is not a substitute for advice from your solicitor or legal services provider. You should not rely on any information on this website as the sole basis for any legal decision.
No lawyer–client relationship. No lawyer–client, solicitor–client or attorney–client relationship is created through the use of this website, through downloading our materials, through buying our publications, or through contacting us by any means.
General, not personal. Nothing we publish has been written with your case in mind. Every case turns on its own facts.
3. Accuracy, currency and jurisdiction
The law changes. Legislation, sentencing guidelines, case law and procedure change frequently. Content that was accurate when written may not be accurate when you read it.
No warranty. While we make reasonable efforts to keep our material accurate and current, we make no representation, warranty or guarantee — express or implied — that any of it is accurate, complete or up to date at any given time.
England and Wales. Our content describes the criminal justice system of England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland have separate legal systems, and the law, procedure and terminology differ. Our material should not be relied upon outside England and Wales.
If you believe something we have published is wrong or out of date, tell us at info@kulturalism.org and we will look at it.
4. Views expressed
The content provided by authors, contributors or campaign materials reflects individual professional or lived-experience perspectives and does not necessarily represent the views of Kulturalism® CIC as a corporate body.
Where we publish an account contributed by someone with direct experience, it is published with their consent and represents their own account of their own experience. It is not verified by us as a statement of fact, and it is not a guide to what will happen to anyone else. Concerns about accuracy may be directed to info@kulturalism.org
5. Narrative works and case studies
Some of our publications use narrative form to explain how people are drawn into offending and what the system does with them.Composite and illustrative. Unless expressly stated otherwise, the individuals, cases and events in our narrative titles are works of fiction. Characters are composites, inspired by real experience but not based on any single identifiable individual, and names, places and details have been changed. Any resemblance to a particular person or case is unintended.
Woven through these narratives, where it helps understanding, are the real laws, offences and consequences a person might face.
Difficult content. Our material deals with violence, exploitation, abuse, imprisonment and bereavement. Some of it may be distressing.
6. Comment on public bodies and organisations
Kulturalism CIC carries out independent watchdog work and publishes what it finds.
Where we comment on the conduct of a public body, provider, landlord or other organisation, we do so in good faith, on a matter of public interest, and on the basis of the evidence available to us. Statements of opinion are identified as our honest opinion and are not statements of fact. If you are the subject of something we have published and you believe it to be inaccurate, contact us at info@kulturalism.org with the specific statement complained of and the basis on which you say it is wrong. We take accuracy seriously and will correct anything we get wrong.
7. Age restrictions and content advisory
Kulturalism® resources discuss serious topics including crime, violence, exploitation, safeguarding, imprisonment, bereavement, legal consequences and real-world case studies. Some of this material may be distressing.
These materials are intended for educational purposes and are most suitable for individuals aged 15 and above. Parents, guardians, educators and youth workers are encouraged to review content before sharing it with those under 15.
8. Online safety
Kulturalism® CIC is committed to responsible digital publishing in line with the Online Safety Act 2023. While we do not host public forums or open user-generated content spaces, our materials include sensitive educational content intended for crime prevention and safeguarding awareness.
