This is my future. How will change happen?
I am a young person living in your constituency, and I am writing because domestic abuse and unhealthy relationships are issues that affect my generation directly.
The Government has outlined measures to strengthen education and awareness around healthy relationships, consent, controlling behaviour, harmful online influences, AI and deepfakes.
These measures are discussed in the Government's Freedom from Violence and Abuse: Cross-Government Strategy and Action Plan.
I welcome the fact that young people are being included in this work, but I want to understand what these changes will mean in practice for people my age.
I would appreciate answers to the following questions:
How will young people be involved in shaping these changes?
How will education and support reach young people who have already left school or college?
How will young men and young women both be helped to recognise unhealthy, abusive or controlling relationships?
How will the Government measure whether these changes are actually making young people safer?
I believe that young people's voices should be part of this conversation. We are the generation who will experience the consequences of the decisions being made today.
This is my future, my generation and my voice.
I would appreciate hearing what action is planned in our area and how young people can participate in developing safer relationships and communities.
