Some men inside have done serious harm, and it's honest to say so. But the system is built around exactly that. Prisoners are categorised by risk, and the highest-risk men are held in the most secure conditions, closely supervised and largely apart from the general population. What can help: trust the structure. Where you're placed reflects your own risk level, not the worst person in the building. Keep to your routine and your own small circle. The hard truth: you can't choose everyone around you. But most men never go near the highest-risk end of the estate, and the day-to-day wing is not the place television tells you it is.
